at this point in my life I exclusively deal in traditional mediums. leather is its own beast but in terms of purely visual art I prefer colored pencil, markers, watercolors, and gouache. I sometimes do collagework and find that very enjoyable my favorite medium is mixed media, specifically alcohol markers + sharpie + colored pencils. I swear by prismacolors, but that's not a particularly hot take in any sense. I'm not too picky when it comes to brands with the other mediums so long as they're halfway decent and lightfast.
I really enjoy drawing portraits on toned paper and studies of scenes from movies and music videos. I love the way light and color and form intersect and getting almost sculptural with the way values build. I took ceramics and sculpture for 3 years in high school and I think it greatly informed the way I think about 2D art.
JC Leyedecker and the myriad of cinematographers whom I rip compositions from. Quinton Hoover and Rebecca Guay, whose pieces for Magic: The Gathering were very influential to me as a kid. the team at Toy Machine circa 1998 for making great scrappy artistic skate vids. all of my significantly cooler art student friends who encourage me to keep making stuff. especially Salem, number one pal if you're reading this.
